I founded Owl Database Applications in 2005 to help customers increase their productivity by improving the way they handle information and data.

For me, computers were always a tool, and while extremely fascinating, they have to help organizations do their job, and not the other way around. I was fortunate to have a career that gave me a deeper insight into many aspects of industrial activities. It is this wide background that I am now able to draw on.

I was born in Switzerland, where I spent the first 40 years of my life. I graduated from the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Zurich with the equivalent of a Masters degree in Electrical Engineering, majoring in Manufacturing Engineering.

Further steps were:

• 2 years in Production Planning and Control (Scheduling, Material Requirement Planning)

• 4 years in International Sales
• 3 years Market Research and Product Definition of technical investment goods
• 5 years manufacturing management.
• After immigrating to Canada I spent 9 years first designing and then running the scheduling system of a company that employed between 150 and 200 employees. During the same time I developed countless additional applications that tie into the scheduling system.

A very important aspect of my work is quality. I am not satisfied if something ‘just works'. I fully subscribe to what an old friend of mine used to say: “a design is good if the user has to make a special effort to do something wrong”.
